Finishes
Powder Coating...
Powder coating provides a superior finish to metal by applying a coating by an electrostatic process that gives a uniform cover on even complex products. This is then fused to the surface in a temperature-controlled oven.
Some advantages of powder coating are -:
- Can be applied to brass, aluminium, steel.
- Good finish without paint runs, which has a good colour and gloss retention.
- Finish can be plain, clear, textured or metallic.
- Corrosion resistance.
Anodising...
Anodising is a popular finish for aluminium and provides corrosion protection and can be dyed to produce a decorative effect.
There are two types of anodising i.e. hard and coloured.
Hard anodising is usually used were a high level of hardness and abrasion resistance are important.
Coloured anodising provides an attractive decorative finish. Dyeing the parts after they are anodised before they are sealed forms the colour.
Plating...
Plating is probably the most easily understood method of coating metal products. Finishes for plated items can be in a range which covers
- Chrome
- Gold
- Nickel
- Satin or Pearlbright
- Incalux ( non tarnish brass colour gold)
